For Lives tells the inspiring stories of four women united by a fundamental conviction: life is sacred.

Fannie Lou Hamer helped catalyze the Civil Rights Movement and black voter registration. Elizabeth Blackwell became the first female doctor in the United States. Mother Teresa dedicated her life to serve the destitute, diseased, and dying. And Eva Edl survived a communist death camp and faced 46 arrests and imprisonment for peacefully protesting abortion clinics she considers the “death camps” of America.

Their lives span different times, places, and cultural contexts. Yet serving the vulnerable and unwanted—especially the unborn—ties their legacies together.

These powerful role models challenge readers of all backgrounds to ask themselves how they too can impact a generation and live for life.

This book is a treasure.

I like to be challenged; meaning, I want to be offended if it means righting my understanding of what genuine love, humility and selflessness looks like. In a culture where comfort, ease and “self love” are gods, this book gently presents another way. A way that, if you’re being honest, intuitively points to something greater and more meaningful than what culture has to offer. Wendy shares the lives of these four women with honesty and poise; never with arrogant authority or exaggerative tactics. She presents their stories in a way that, for me, created a fifth entity: this book. And promise of something more sacred than comfort.
